On June 29, the Head of the RA NA Armenia-Japan Friendship Group Samvel Farmanyan and members Aghvan Vardanyan, Ruzanna Muradyan, Mane Tandilyan, Vardevan Grigoryan, Ararat Mirzoyan, Luiza Sargsyan and Mihran Hakobyan met with the delegation led by Motome Takisawa, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Eiji Taguchi also attended the meeting.

Samvel Farmanyan welcomed the guests’ visit to the RA National Assembly and presented the members of the newly created Friendship Group. Mr Farmanyan has recorded that during the last years the Armenian-Japanese relations have risen in different spheres, highlighting in that the cooperation of the parliamentary Friendship groups and the activities of the countries’ ambassadors.

The Head of the Friendship group expressed hope that in the coming years they can further deepen the parliamentary ties, promoting by that also the development of the inter-state relations.

Samvel Farmanyan has noted that the Armenian-Japanese friendship is conditioned by the great contribution to the two countries in the development of civilisation and the commonality of system of values characteristic to the ancient peoples. Mr Farmanyan has noted that during the period of globalization in the rapprochement of the international relations the desire to communicate is spotlighted, but not the distance: in case of Armenia and Japan that principle works.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh problem, Samvel Farmanyan thanked Motome Takisawa for the balanced position of Japan in that issue. He has noted that bringing into life different strategic ideas it is possible to raise the inter-state relations onto a new level. In Samvel Farmanyan’s word, as Japan, so Armenia, stemming from geopolitical conditions, strictly evaluates the effective use of the human capital.

The Head of the RA NA Armenia-Japan Friendship Group asked Mr Takisawa to convey his greetings to the members of Japan-Armenia Friendship Group.

Motome Takisawa, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, has noted that Armenia is one of the important counterparts of Japan, and they are happy to visit Armenia in the twenty-fifth year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Underlining the role of the activities of the parliamentary Friendship Groups of the two countries, Motome Takisawa expressed readiness to promote the deepening of inter-state relations. Mr Takisawa has noted that Japan really emphasizes the resource development and the effective use and makes serious investments in that direction.

Motome Takisawa highlighted the continuity of cooperation between Japan and Armenia and the deepening in the spheres of prevention of disasters, education, economy and culture.

At the end of the meeting the members of the RA NA Armenia-Japan Friendship Group welcomed the guests’ visit to Armenia and expressed hope that in the coming years due to joint efforts the Armenian-Japanese parliamentary and inter-state relations will turn onto a new phase.
